Echo heart scan (Echocardiogram)

An echocardiogram or echo heart scan is a type of ultrasound scan that looks at the heart and its nearby blood vessels and heart valves.

An echo scan can assess how effective your heart is as a ‘pump’ and gives a value for this.  It can further assess for any ‘leaky’ heart valves.  Furthermore, the heart muscle can be visualised, and we can detect and ‘swelling’ or dilatation of the heart muscle.  An essential test of heart function.
